When executing a large-scale bank vault or security project overseas, physical site limitations and complex logistics often pose bigger challenges than manufacturing itself.

Recently, LastingSafe successfully completed a landmark physical security project in Africa. The installation features 6,978 precision-engineered safe deposit boxes and a massive circular vault door guarding the main entrance.

Here is an inside look at how our engineering team worked through months of technical communication, custom design, and site-specific constraints to deliver this high-security facility.

The Project Overview

  • Location: Africa

  • Vault Capacity: 6,978 Safe Deposit Lockers

  • Vault Door Type: Custom Heavy-Duty Circular Vault Door

  • Material Specifications: Premium Stainless Steel Fascia & All-Stainless Steel Inner Bond Boxes

  • Lead Time: 2 Months Production | 2 Phased Shipments

Key Engineering Challenges & Solutions

1. Overcoming Elevator Limits: The Modular Circular Vault Door

Installing a heavy-duty circular vault door on an upper floor usually creates severe rigging challenges. During the initial design phase, site measurements revealed that standard one-piece heavy vault door frames could not fit into the building’s service elevators or access shafts.

  • Our Solution: After multiple rounds of technical consultation with the client, LastingSafe’s structural engineers re-engineered the classic circular vault door into a precision modular (split-frame) design.

  • The Result: The split structure allowed individual components to be transported seamlessly via building elevators without compromising the structural integrity, blast resistance, or burglar-proof rating of the assembled door.

2. Premium All-Stainless Steel Construction

For high-humidity tropical environments, durability is non-negotiable. While many suppliers use galvanized steel for inner bond boxes to cut costs, this project required maximum longevity and luxury aesthetics:

  • Outer Panel & Frame: High-grade brushed stainless steel for anti-scratch and anti-fingerprint protection.

  • Inner Bond Boxes: Constructed from 100% solid stainless steel, ensuring zero rust, high tensile strength, and a smooth user experience for end clients storing high-value assets.

3. Months of Tailored Communication & Rapid Production

From the first conceptual drawings to final shop drawings, our engineering team engaged in months of detailed technical exchange with the client's architectural team. Once designs were finalized:

  • Production Time: Completed all 6,978 safe deposit lockers and the custom modular circular door in just 2 months.

  • Logistics Management: Divided into 2 staged shipments to align perfectly with the client’s on-site civil construction and vault room preparation schedule.
